Visit to the Mortuary by Department of Forensic Science
The Department of Forensic Science successfully organized a crucial "Mortuary Visit" on August 19, 2025, for students, held at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, New Delhi. This essential program aimed to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world legal practice by providing practical exposure to medico-legal autopsy procedures and death investigations. The team, comprising two Faculty members and three students, was able to observe and understand the systematic approach to external and internal examination of a dead body, including cause of death determination, injury analysis, and sample collection. The visit effectively enhanced the students' knowledge of postmortem examination, enabling them to better identify and interpret postmortem changes and injuries and fully grasp the medico-legal importance of autopsies. The department noted the session was a strong success in encouraging multidisciplinary learning, and they plan to organize more such practical activities in the future.
